How Christians Should Handle Their Finances

Discusing a topic on money is very uncomfortable to many people. Majority of people like to keep the information about their finances very secretive. Christians have raised an issue regarding the best way to spend money. Christians are trying to understand on what the Bible says about the possession. In the Bible various verses talk about money and how to spend it. For instance, in the book of Proverbs chapter 3 verse 9, it states that we should honor God with the first fruit of our produce. Christians are told that they should be like the good steward. A a steward is a person that is left to take charge of once belongings in their absence. The meaning of this is to show that people should take charge of their property as it belongs to another person. When people are given a responsibility to spend other peoples money they ensure they keep count of every cent they spend. In this case Christians believe that everything they have in this world belongs to the almighty God and so they should spend it wisely. The issue about requesting for loans is also an issue that Christians think about. In the book of Romans Christians are told to be watchful of the money they borrow. One should only take a loan that they are sure that they are able to pay. It is wrong to borrow what we cannot pay, defaulting in paying our debts may lead to losing everything we have. The bible says that lenders should not expect to paid too. The reason is that people are supposed to give and forget since it is not theirs but Gods. Timothy 6:10 states that that the love of money is the root course of all evil.

Christians are described in the Bible that they should only spend money for a good reason. Requesting for a loan to attend to urgent and necessary needs is okay, for instance paying for kids school fees. It is also okay to save to do useful projects such as planning for a new baby. Other needs is taking care of the needy in society. The loan should be borrowed only when it is necessary.

There is so much to say about what the Bible says in regards to money. Christians should ensure they keep track of their money. Appropriately means to spend the money wisely as if the money does it belong to them. A Christian can figure out when they are spending their money inappropriately, since they have a conscious. Therefore before doing anything with our money there is need to ask ourselves whether it is right or wrong.
